February Fishing Report

Until the high water subsided after the floods at the turn of the year, it was not until mid January that we were able to assess the damage.

The croy at the foot of the Cruik was breached, the large croy at the top of the Otter was badly damaged, as was the bank above it. SEPA (Scottish Environmental Protection Agency) were extremely helpful, and we were able to get the damage repaired and the access road regraded before the season opened on 16th February.

And what a good start we have had! A fine fresh seatrout of three pounds on the opening day and then three salmon on the 17th, two of which were caught by John Wood.

We finished the month with seven salmon, every one being taken on a yellow fly, whether cascade, shrimp, or tube.
